About this statute

This section gives the Act’s short title: it may be cited as the National Library Service Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act. This section establishes the National Library Service Board and gives it corporate powers, including suing, being sued, and dealing with property. It also lets the Minister amend the Schedule by Order on the Board’s advice. The Board must develop libraries in Malawi and may do whatever is necessary or convenient to carry out its functions. The Board must report to the Minister on its business each financial year within six months after year-end, and the Minister must table a copy before the National Assembly.
