About this statute

This section says the Act may be cited as the Exchange Control Act. This section defines terms used in the Act and lets the Minister declare additional metal or coins to be bullion by Gazette order. The Minister may make regulations to control foreign exchange, bullion, and Malawi currency, and those regulations may set offences, penalties, restrictions, and related requirements. This section says certain official-looking documents must be accepted as evidence, and a charged person is presumed to lack exemption, permission, or other authorization unless they prove otherwise. Government or its departments must pay expenses incurred under the Act or Regulations from funds provided for that purpose by Parliament.
