About this statute

This section gives the Act its short title: the Agriculture (General Purposes) Act. This section defines “agricultural crop” by listing things it does not include. The Minister may make regulations for agriculture industry activities, including licences, pricing, inspections, export procedures, records, entry for compliance checks, and penalties, and may also refuse, cancel, or suspend licences. Regulations under section (3) may empower specified authorities or persons to make rules or orders, provide for delegation or transfer of powers and duties, and include incidental or supplementary provisions the Minister considers necessary or desirable. Regulations, rules, or orders under this Act may be framed to apply generally or to specific agriculture-related activities and may operate across Malawi or only part of it.
