This section gives the Act its short title: the Town and Country Planning Act. This section defines many terms used in the Act, including planning area, development, responsible authority, subdivision, and several types of orders and notices. A Commissioner for Town and Country Planning is to exist, and the Commissioner is to be a public officer. The Minister may delegate any or all powers or duties under the Act to the Commissioner, subject to special or general directions.
