About this statute

This section gives the Act its short title: the Inland Waters Shipping Act. This section defines terms used in the Act. This section says when the Act applies: to Malawi vessels anywhere, to other vessels in ports or inland waters, and to certain structures and their managers in inland waters. This Part applies to certain inland-water vessels, but several vessels are exempt. A person must not use, or allow the use of, a vessel on inland waters unless it has been surveyed and registered and has a valid certificate of registration.
