About this statute

This section gives the Act’s short title: the Ombudsman Act. This section defines “organ of Government” and “Public Appointments Committee.” The Ombudsman’s appointment terms and conditions are set by the Public Appointments Committee. The Ombudsman must be assisted by staff he appoints for that purpose when performing functions under the Act. The Ombudsman must investigate qualifying complaints and requests and may take prescribed action or steps, subject to the Constitution and the Act.
