About this statute

This provision gives the Act its short title: the Road Traffic Act. This section defines terms used in the Act, including types of vehicles, road users, and authorities. A Director of Road Traffic must be appointed and carries out powers and duties given by this or another Act, subject to the Minister’s general or special directions. The Director may delegate duties to authorized officers, and authorized officers are under the Director’s direction. The Minister must establish a Committee for Road Traffic Law Enforcement by notice in the Gazette, and the Committee must advise the Minister and carry out any other functions the Minister assigns.
