About this statute

This section gives the Act’s short title: it may be cited as the Businesses Licensing Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act. The Minister must set policy and regulatory framework for business licensing, support local authorities, and may revoke or reassign Business Licensing Centre authority by Gazette notice after consulting the Minister responsible for Local Government. The Principal Secretary responsible for trade is designated as the Chief Business Licensing Officer, who must carry out listed licensing coordination, register, publication, supervision, and cooperation functions. A main registry is established within the Ministry, and the Chief Business Licensing Officer must keep it maintained using modern technology, skills, and international best practices.
