About this statute

This section gives the Act its short title: the Cotton Act. This section defines terms used in the Act. This section establishes the Cotton Council of Malawi and gives it corporate powers. The Minister appoints Council members and must publish their names and changes. The Minister appoints the Chairperson, members elect a Vice-Chairperson, and some people are barred from those roles. A member’s office becomes vacant in several listed situations. The Minister must fill any vacancy, except that vacancies with less than six months remaining may be left unfilled.
