About this statute

This Act requires approval and a licence to establish, maintain, operate, or provide a pathology laboratory, and it sets licensing, inspection, reporting, compliance, suspension, revocation, and closure rules. Licensed pathology laboratories must keep quality programmes, provide required information, and establish an advisory committee; the Director General can issue directives and inspect, and non-compliance can be an offence. An applicant is treated as licensed while a licence application is pending, must comply with licence conditions within six months after a licence is granted, and certain tests are exempt when performed by specified practitioners in their own premises or generally.
