Statute overview

About this statute

This Order sets the conditions that must be met for a medical doctor to perform an abortion. This article defines key terms used in the Order, including abortion, health, and recognised medical doctor. Abortion is allowed on listed grounds, and the requester does not have to prove those grounds, except as Article 11 may provide. Termination of pregnancy is allowed only up to 22 weeks of gestation, except where the pregnancy endangers the health of the pregnant person or the foetus. Only a public or private health facility licensed by the Minister in charge of health, and operating as a hospital or polyclinic, may provide abortion services.
