Statute overview

About this statute

This Order sets the characteristics of smoking areas and what must be included in the notice displayed there. A smoking area must not allow access to people under 18 and must be clearly marked as a smoking area. Smoking-area sign posts must be at least 50 cm by 50 cm and must show the smoking-area text in red on a white background in Kinyarwanda, English, and French. A smoking area must be placed so smoke does not spread into the rest of the premises, and it must have suitable non-combustible receptacles for cigarette ash and ends. Premises with a designated smoking area must display clear notices saying smoking is allowed only in that area and forbidden elsewhere.
