Statute overview

About this statute

This Order sets the writings and stamps a notary must put on authentic deeds. An authentic deed is a document drawn up or received with the required formalities by a public officer authorized to act in the place where it is made. This article lists the categories of notary stamps and requires notaries to use red ink on stamps; the stamp with the Seal of the Republic is only for a public notary. The form and dimensions of the Republic’s stamp follow another law, and other stamps are set out in Annex I of this Order. The Ministry in charge of justice may authorize public institutions that apply for permission to order stamps from manufacturers.
