Statute overview

About this statute

This Order sets out the procedures for the State’s guardianship of a minor. The village assembly identifies minors to be placed under State guardianship and sends them through the local administrative chain; each listed organ must check whether the children meet the legal requirements. The State organ in charge of children validates the list of minors under State guardianship. After a child is approved for State guardianship, the State organ in charge of children must send the child’s identity details to the child’s District of origin so the civil registrar can enter the guardianship record. The District and the State organ in charge of children must decide where a State-guarded minor will be hosted, choosing a family if one agrees to care for the child, or a children’s welfare center if no family is available.
