About this statute

This article defines “labour administration” and “system of labour administration” for the Convention. A ratifying Member may delegate certain labour administration activities to non-governmental organisations or, where appropriate, to employers’ and workers’ representatives. A ratifying Member may treat certain labour-policy activities as regulated through direct negotiations between employers’ and workers’ organisations, where national law, regulation, or practice allows it. A ratifying Member must take appropriate measures, according to national conditions, to ensure an effective and properly coordinated labour administration system in its territory. A ratifying Member must set up arrangements suited to national conditions for consultation, cooperation, and negotiation in labour administration.
