Statute overview

About this statute

The provision says its rules should be given effect by national laws or regulations if they are not already made effective by other listed means. The Convention applies to employed persons except seafarers, and countries may exclude limited categories of employed persons in some cases. Ratifying Members must report excluded categories and explain them. People covered by the Convention are entitled to a paid annual holiday of at least three working weeks. A person with less than a full year of service is entitled to paid holiday leave proportional to the service completed. A worker may need a minimum service period before getting paid annual leave, and the competent authority sets that period, up to six months.
