Statute overview

About this statute

This article defines key terms used in the Agreement and requires each Member, when depositing its ratification/acceptance/approval instrument, to choose one payment method for the payments covered. This provision defines key Fund terms and sets rules for how the Fund, the Executive Board, and the Governing Council must manage resources, investments, procurement, and securities. The Fund must hold and use usable currencies for its financial transactions, and members must not restrict that use except as allowed by article 16(5)(b). The Fund’s objectives are to support the Integrated Programme for Commodities and help bring about and operate international commodity agreements, especially for commodities of special interest to developing countries. The Fund must carry out listed functions through its first and second accounts.
