Statute overview

About this statute

This law sets regulations for civil aviation. This article defines terms used in the law on civil aviation. This article says the law applies to specified civil aviation people, aircraft, activities, and accident/serious-incident situations, but not to State aircraft. Rwanda has full and irrevocable sovereignty over the airspace above its territory. Civil aircraft interception in Rwanda’s airspace is tightly restricted: only the Rwanda Defence Forces may intercept in the performance of their duties, the Minister may authorize interception signals or landing instructions in the public interest if aviation safety is not affected, and pilots must comply with lawful landing and interception instructions.
