Statute overview

About this statute

This article lists the Bank’s purposes and says the Bank must be guided by them in all its decisions. The Bank may make or facilitate loans, including by direct lending, borrowing, and loan guarantees, but some borrowing or guarantees need the relevant member approvals and unrestricted exchange agreement. The Bank and its members must use specified channels for dealings, and the Bank may make or guarantee loans only subject to stated conditions and limits. This article sets up the Bank’s governing structure and gives the Board of Governors overall authority, with some powers delegated to Executive Directors. Members may withdraw from the Bank by written notice. The Bank may suspend a member for failure to meet obligations, and suspended members cannot use most rights. Membership can also end automatically after certain time-based triggers.
