About this statute

This law sets out the mission, organisation, and functioning of the Media High Council (MHC). MHC is an autonomous body tasked with protecting, regulating, and promoting media and media professionals, and it also protects the public intended to receive media information. MHC’s head office must be in Kigali, and it can be moved elsewhere in Rwanda if three-quarters of the Board of Directors request it. MHC is supervised by the Ministry in charge of information. MHC must enter into a performance and evaluation contract with the Ministry in charge of information.
