About this statute

This law sets out how biological diversity is to be managed and conserved in Rwanda. This article defines terms used in the law. The Minister must monitor biodiversity conservation status and promote biodiversity research. National biodiversity strategies must especially set up integrated biodiversity management, identify priority conservation areas, reflect regional cooperation, and set local biodiversity conservation standards. The Minister must issue an Order to designate a geographic area as a bioregion when the stated ecosystem and character conditions are met, and the Order must include a biodiversity management plan.
