Statute overview

About this statute

Aviation gasoline used to refuel aircraft must meet specified distillation, purity, color, and octane requirements. Installations and equipment for storing, supplying, and distributing aviation fuels must be designed and maintained to reduce mixing risks, include necessary purge/decantation/filtration devices, and stay clean. Aircraft refueling must wait until all passengers have disembarked, and it must be done under the direct control and presence of a qualified agent. Les fûts de carburant d’aviation doivent être neufs, propres, étanches, marqués selon le type de carburant, puis capsulés immédiatement après remplissage; certains usages secondaires des autres faces sont autorisés aux compagnies pétrolières. Aviation gasolines 100/130, 108/135, and 115/145 octane must be used within a maximum of 15 months from the filling date marked on the drum/container.
