[18th Septem b e r 2 0 2 3 ] P u blic Utilities Corporation (Amendment) 1 REPUBLIC OF SEYCHELLES SUPPLEMENT TO OFFICIAL GAZETTE BILL PUBLIC UTILITIES CORPORATION (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2023 (Bill No. 14 of 2023) EXPLANATORY STATEMENT This Bill seeks to amend the Public Utilities Corporation Act (Cap. 196) to increase the number of members on the Board of the Public Utilities Corporation so to broaden the pool of relevant expertise on the board. As a consequence of the increase in number of members, the Bill proposes to increase the quorum for meetings. Dated this 7th day of August, 2023. ENACTED by the President and the National Assembly. Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Public Utilities Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and amends the Public Utilities Corporation Act, Cap. 196 (hereinafter referred to as the “principal Act”). Section 4(1) of the principal Act is amended by repealing the words “not more than 7 members” and substituting therefor the words “not more than 9 members”. Amendment of section 8 2. Section 8(3) of the principal Act is amended by repealing the words “Three members” and substituting therefor the words “Six members”.
