This Act amends the Public Health Act, 2015 to broaden infectious disease controls and add authority for vaccination-related requirements and emergency vaccine use.

ENACTED by the President and the National Assembly. Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Public Health (Amendment) Act, 2021. 332 Supplement to Official Gazette [5th February 2021] Amendment of section 26 of Act 13 of 2015 2. Section 26(1) of the Public Health Act, 2015 (hereinafter referred to as the “principal Act”) is amended — (a) in the chapeau, by repealing the words ''introduction of infectious diseases into Seychelles'' and substituting therefor “introduction of infectious diseases into Seychelles or spread of infectious diseases within Seychelles”; (b) in paragraph (d), by deleting the word ''or''; (c) in paragraph (e), by replacing the full-stop at the end by a semi-colon; (d) by inserting after paragraph (e), the following paragraph — “(f) the requirements of vaccination as a preventive measure to combat, control, treat and prevent the spread of infectious diseases and authorising the use of such vaccines in emergency situations.”. Amendment of section 64 of Act 13 of 2015 3. Section 64 of the principal Act is amended by inserting after paragraph (n), the following paragraphs — “(na) the creation of offences and imposition of penalties not exceeding a fine of SCR50,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or both; (nb) the imposition of a fixed penalty in respect of any offence, and authorise one or more public officers for such purpose; [5th February 2021] Supplement to Official Gazette 333 (nc) specifying that the payment of a fixed penalty may discharge the person of liability from prosecution for an offence;”.
