Singapore Sports Council Act 1973 2020 REVISED EDITION This revised edition incorporates all amendments up to and including 1 December 2021 and comes into operation on 31 December 2021 An Act to establish the Singapore Sports Council and for matters connected therewith. [1 October 1973] PART 1 PRELIMINARY Short title 1. This Act is the Singapore Sports Council Act 1973. Interpretation 2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires — “Chairperson” means a member of the Council who is appointed under section 4A(1)(a) as the Chairperson of the Council; “Chief Executive Officer” means the chief executive of the Council, and includes any individual acting in that capacity; “Council” means the Singapore Sports Council established under section 3; “Deputy Chairperson” means a member of the Council who is appointed under section 4A(1)(b) as the Deputy Chairperson of the Council; “member” means a member of the Council and includes the Chairperson and the Deputy Chairperson; “mind sport” means a competitive game based on intellectual skill rather than physical skill, such as chess or bridge; [Act 4 of 2026 wef 01/04/2026] “National Stadium” means the National Stadium Complex at Kallang; [5/2018; 2/2020] [Act 4 of 2026 wef 01/04/2026] “sports” includes mind sports and e‑sports.
