About this statute
This section introduces the Water Amendment Act, 1997, which amends the Water Act, 1956 to further regulate water abstraction from public streams with artificially augmented natural flow. The Minister may, by notice in the Gazette, prohibit water abstraction from a specified part of a public stream if the stream’s natural flow is being augmented by certain discharged water. This Act is called the Water Amendment Act, 1997.
