Statute overview

About this statute

This section says a new section 3 will replace the existing one in the principal Act, beginning with the heading "Object of board". The board must promote tourism, keep environmental sustainability in mind, improve tourist services and facilities, manage tourism information and research, and advise the Minister on tourism policy. The Minister must appoint the board’s members within set minimum and maximum numbers, and may appoint a Department officer; the Minister also appoints the chairperson and vice-chairperson. Section 5 is amended to add a paragraph that covers people who hold an office of profit under the Republic or who are members or employees of a local government body, with an exception for the person mentioned in section 4(2)(c). The chairperson may convene an extraordinary board meeting at any time.
