This provision amends section 2 of the 1993 Act by changing the wording for certain applicants, including South African citizens who left and later returned, and their spouses or children.

1. Section 2 of the Recognition of Foreign Legal Qualifications and Practice Act, 1993, is hereby amended- (a) by the substitution in the Mrikaans text for subparagraphs (i) and (ii) of paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of the following subparagraphs: "(i) diens kragtens 'n leerkontrak b_edoel in artikel2 van die Wet op Prokureurs, 1979, en van die bepalings van artikel15(1)(b)(vi) [of 18(1)(d)] van daardie Wet; 'n praktiese eksamen bedoel in artikel 14 van die Wet op Prokureurs, 1979, e~ van die bepalings van artikel15(1)(b)(iv) of 18(1)(d) van daardie Wet."; and (ii) (b) by the substitution for paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of the following 5 10 paragraph: 15 (ii) "(a) ill the applicant is . a South Mrican citizen who left the Republic at some stage and that such applicant lawfully and permanently returned to the Republic or declared his or her intention ·to so return to the Republic within a reasonable time; or the· applicant is the spouse or a child· of a South African citizen, which citizen lt~ft the Republic at some stage and lawfully and permanently returned to the Republic or declared his 9r her intentionJo so return to the Republic within a reasonable time; and that such applicantlawfully 25 and permanently entered the Republic or declared his or her intention to so enter the Republic within a reasonable time; and". 20 4 No. 16447 Act No. 10, 1995 Short title GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, 2 JUNE 1995 RECOGNmON OF FOREIGN LEGAL QUALIFICATIONS AND PRACfiCE AMENDMENT ACT, 1995
