About this statute

This section defines “chairperson” and “Commission,” sets term and vacancy rules for certain Commission members, and provides for deputy chairperson arrangements and member remuneration. The Director-General: Justice must designate Department of Justice officers, in consultation with the Commission, to do the work incidental to the Commission’s functions, and one of them must be named secretary of the Commission. The Minister of Justice must publish a notice in the Gazette making known the particulars of the procedure determined by the Commission. The Commission must submit a written report to Parliament every year within six months after year-end. This section gives the Act its short title: the Judicial Service Commission Act, 1994.
