Road Accident Fund Commission Amendment Act

1. Section 7 of the Road Accident Fund Commission Act, 1998 (Act No. 71 of 1998), is hereby amended— (a) by the substitution for subsection (1) of the following subsection: 5 “(1 ) The Commission must [complete], after completion of the inquiry referred to in section 5(1) [within a period of nine months from the date of appointment of the members of the Commission in terms of section 3(l)], prepare a written report containing its findings and 10 conclusions, and the recommendations referred to in section 5(2).’”; (b) by the deletion of subsection (2); and (c) by the substitution for subsection (4) of the following subsection: “(4) @ The Commission must submit its report to the President within a period of [three] 24 months from the [completion of the 15 enquiry] date of appointment of the members of the Commission. — (b) The President may, by preclamation in the Gucelre, extend the period referred to in para~raph (a) if the Commission requests the extension of the period in writinz. ”. 2. This Act is called the Road Accident Fund Commission Amendment Act, 2000, and must be regarded as having taken effect on 1 June 1999.
