The Commission must prepare a written report and submit it to the President within the stated time limits; the President may extend the period if the Commission asks in writing.

1. Section 7 of the Road Accident Fund Commission Act, 1998 (Act No. 71 of 1998), is hereby amended— (a) by the substitution for subsection (1) of the following subsection: 5 “(1 ) The Commission must [complete], after completion of the inquiry referred to in section 5(1) [within a period of nine months from the date of appointment of the members of the Commission in terms of section 3(l)], prepare a written report containing its findings and 10 conclusions, and the recommendations referred to in section 5(2).’”; (b) by the deletion of subsection (2); and (c) by the substitution for subsection (4) of the following subsection: “(4) @ The Commission must submit its report to the President within a period of [three] 24 months from the [completion of the 15 enquiry] date of appointment of the members of the Commission. — (b) The President may, by preclamation in the Gucelre, extend the period referred to in para~raph (a) if the Commission requests the extension of the period in writinz. ”.
