About this statute
The Minister of Justice, and certain written delegates, may appoint justices of the peace for any magisterial district, subject to subsection (2). The Minister, or a properly written-delegated senior Justice Department officer, may appoint any person as a commissioner of oaths for an area fixed by the Minister or that officer. The Minister, or a properly written-delegated senior Justice Department officer, may appoint and revoke appraisers for valuing property under the Act. The Minister, or a properly delegated senior Justice Department officer, may appoint one or more commissioners for any court. This section states the Act’s short title: the Judicial Matters Amendment Act, 1999.
