01
Purpose and legislative effect
“The Act applies to employers and employees, except for very short-hours employees with a particular employer and certain public office holders.”
The Act applies to employers and employees, except for very short-hours employees with a particular employer and certain public office holders. The provision says the Act applies to certain employers and their employees, and it excludes several public office holders listed in the text. The principal Act’s section 5 is amended to add a paragraph covering financing for retaining contributors in employment, helping contributors re-enter the labour market, and other schemes aimed at vulnerable workers. The Director-General may deposit Fund money that is not needed for current expenditure with the Public Investment Corporation for investment. This section amends the law to let certain employed contributors get benefits when reduced working time cuts their income, and sets maternity and other benefit payment rates.
