About this statute
This Act amends the Eskom Act, 1987 to vest ownership of Eskom’s owner’s equity in the State and remove Eskom’s exemption from certain taxes and charges. Eskom’s owner’s equity vests in the State, and the Minister must take steps to incorporate Eskom as a limited liability company. The Minister may reserve electricity-related matters and issue directives to the Electricity Council, and the Minister of Finance and SARS officials must follow consultation and prior-approval steps for Eskom tax matters. The laws listed in the Schedule are amended as set out in the Schedule’s third column. This section gives the Act its short title and lists earlier Acts that are amended in the Schedule.
