Statute overview

About this statute

2 November 1998 No. 1396. This section is an amendment to section 2 of the Deeds Registries Act, 1937. The Minister may let certain officers act temporarily in registrar posts, and some permanent appointments require specified qualifications and experience. A registrar may not attest, execute, or register certain deeds or certificates unless they were prepared by a conveyancer, subject to any other law that says otherwise. This provision amends the Afrikaans text of section 16 by replacing the first occurrence of “eiendom” with “eiendomsreg”.
