The National Parks (Amendment of the Second Schedule) Order, 2023 and shall be read as one with the National Parks Act

1. This Order may be cited as the National Parks (Amendment of the Second Schedule) Order, 2023 and shall be read as one with the National Parks Act. Deletion and substitution of paragraph 1

2. The Second Schedule is amended by deleting paragraph 1 and substituting for it the following: “Constitution of Trustees the following members:

1.-(1) The Trustees shall consist of (a) a Chairman who shall be appointed by the President; and (b) six other trustees who shall be appointed by the Minister as follows: (i) a Senior or Principal Officer with knowledge in wildlife matters representing the Ministry; (ii) a wildlife veterinary scientist from amongst senior public officials; Law Principal Officer from the public service; (iii) a (iv) an accountant experienced holding 1 National Parks (Amendment of The Second Schedule) GN. NO. 347 (Contd) (v) person qualifications; CPA and with two knowledge integrity, in experience and business, marketing, natural resources or tourism as the Minister may deem necessary. Conservation The Commissioner shall be the Secretary to the Board of Trustees. (2) (3) In appointing trustees under subparagraph (1), the Minister shall have regard to gender and ensure that one member is from private sector. (4) A trustee shall, unless his appointment is revoked, hold office for a period of three years but may be eligible for re-appointment.”. Amendment of paragraph 2

3. The Second Schedule is amended in paragraph 2 by deleting the word “President” and substituting for it the word “Minister”. Amendment of paragraph 3

4. The Second Schedule is amended by deleting the word “President” and substituting for it the words “appointing authority”. Deletion of paragraph 8
