About this statute

These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examinations) Regulations, 2016. These Regulations apply to certain medical-certificate holders and to foreign seagoing ships in Tanzanian ports, but not to several listed vessel types and offshore installations on their working stations. This section defines key terms used in these Regulations. This section says these Regulations are intended to give effect to Regulation I/9 of the STCW Convention and Section A-I/9 of the STCW Code.
