The Merchant Shipping (Licensing of Seafarer Recruitment and Placement Service) (Amendment) Regulations, 2021

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Licensing of Seafarer Recruitment and Placement Service) (Amendment) Regulations, 2021 and shall be read as one with the Merchant Shipping (Licensing and Placement Service) of Seafarer Recruitment Regulations, hereinafter referred to as the “principal Regulations”. The principal Regulations are amended generally (a) deleting the word “Authority” wherever it appears in the Regulations and substituting for it the word “Corporation”; (b) deleting the words “Registrar of Ships” wherever they appear in the Regulations and substituting for them the word “Registrar”; (c) deleting the words “the Surface and Marine Transport and substituting for them the words “the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation”. The principal Regulations are amended in regulation 2, by- (a) deleting the definition of the term “ship” and substituting for it the following: ““ship” means a floating vessel which is of capable and self-propelled 1 Merchant Shipping (Licensing of Seafarer Recruitment and Placement Service) (Amendment) GN. NO.817 (Contd.) carrying passengers or cargo and includes every description of vessel used in navigation;”; (b) adding in the appropriate alphabetical order the following new definition: ““Corporation” means the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation established under the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Act;”.
