The Civil Aviation (Aerodrome Design and Operations) (Amendment) Regulations, 2024

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Civil Aviation (Aerodrome Design and Operations) (Amendment) Regulations, 2024 and shall be read as one with the Civil Aviation (Aerodrome Design and Operations) Regulations, 2024 hereinafter referred to as the “principal Regulations”. General amendment by-

2. The principal Regulations are amended generally (a) deleting the word “NOTAM” wherever it appears and substituting for it the words “Notice to Airmen”; and (b) deleting the words “or foot” appearing in regulations 21, 23 and 27. Amendment of regulation 3

3. The principal Regulations are amended in regulation 3 by adding in the appropriate alphabetical order the following new definition: ““VOR” means Very high frequency Omnidirectional radio Range;”. Amendment of regulation 11 Amendment of regulation 23

4. The principal Regulations are amended in regulation 11 by deleting subregulations (6) and (7).

5. The principal Regulations are amended in regulation 23 by adding immediately after subregulation (5) 1 The Civil Aviation (Aerodrome Design and Operations) (Amendment) Regulations GN. No. 835 (Contd) the following: “(6) For the purpose of this regulation- (a) “Area 2” means the area within the vicinity of an aerodrome, subdivided as follows: refers (i) Area 2a which to a rectangular area around a runway that comprises the runway strip plus any clearway that exists; (ii) Area 2b which refers to an area extending from the ends of Area 2a in the direction of departure, with a length of 10 km and a splay of 15 percent to each side; (iii) Area 2c which refers to an area extending outside Area 2a and Area 2b at a distance of not more than 10 km from the boundary of Area 2a; and (iv) Area 2d which refers to an area outside Areas 2a, 2b and 2c up to a from an distance of 45 km aerodrome reference point, or to an existing terminal control area boundary, whichever is nearest; and (b) “Area 3” means the area bordering an aerodrome movement area that extends horizontally from the edge of a runway to 90 metre from the runway centre line and 50 metre from the edge of all other parts of the aerodrome movement area.”. 6. The principal Regulations are amended in regulation 53 by- (a) deleting subregulation (2); and (b) renumbering subregulation (3) as subregulation (2). Amendment

No. 835 (Contd) of regulation 70 regulation 70 by- (a) adding immediately after subregulation (3) the following: “(4) A runway end safety area shall extend from the end of a runway strip to a distance of at least 30 m where the code number is 1 or 2 and the runway is non- instrument one.”; and (b) renumbering subregulations (4) and (5) as subregulations (5) and (6) respectively. 8. The principal Regulations are amended by deleting regulation 299.
