THE MERCHANT SHIPPING (CARRIAGE OF SOLID BULK CARGOES AND OIL FUELS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 2025

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Carriage of Solid Bulk Cargoes and Oil Fuels) (Amendment) Regulations, 2025 and shall be read as one with the Merchant Shipping (Carriage of Solid Bulk Cargoes and Oil Fuels) Regulations, 2024, hereinafter referred the “principal Regulations”. to as Amendment of regulation 3

2. The principal Regulations are amended in regulation 3 by inserting in its appropriate alphabetical order the following new definitions: ““liquid bulk cargoes” means a large quantity of liquid commodities transported in bulk rather than packaged in individual containers which include various substances such as crude oil, petroleum products, chemicals, liquefied gases or food grade liquids; “ro-ro ship” means a cargo ship designed to carry wheeled cargo, such as cars, motorcycles, trucks, buses, trailers and railroad cars, that are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels or using a platform vehicle such as a self- propelled modular transporter;”.
