The Petroleum (Puma Energy Tanzania Limited- Natural Gas Receiving Station) (Construction Approval) Notice, 2025

1. This Notice may be cited as the Petroleum (Puma Energy Tanzania Limited- Natural Gas Receiving Station) (Construction Approval) Notice, 2025. Interpretation

2. In this Notice, unless the context otherwise Cap. 414 Cap 392 Granting of a Construction Approval requires: “Applicant” means Puma Energy Tanzania Limited of P.O. Box 9043 Dar es Salaam; “Authority” means the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority established under the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority Act; and “Construction Approval” means an approval issued by the the to Section 128(1) Authority pursuant Petroleum Act.

3. The Applicant is hereby granted a Construction Approval to construct a natural gas receiving station within the premises of Alliance One Tobacco Tanzania Limited industrial area located at Kingolwira Ward in Morogoro Municipality subject following conditions: the to (a) complying with the approved design, technical specifications, processes including installation, construction, and welding, commissioning and demarcated right of way or other applicable laws; testing 1 Petroleum (Puma Energy Tanzania Limited-Natural Gas Receiving Station) (Construction Approval) GN. NO.139 (Contd.) (c) to (b) to ensure the station or other related facilities is constructed in accordance with comprehensive written specifications or standards issued by Tanzania Bureau of Standards or other applicable laws; ensure inspection requirements for receiving station or other related facilities is adequate in order to assure compliance with the material, construction, welding, assembly, and testing requirements of the standards issued by the Tanzania Bureau of Standards; (d) to ensure that- construction that (i) there are minimal inconveniences to the residents around the station and the safety of the public is given prime consideration; (ii) in case blasting is involved, it shall be done in accordance with the governing regulations and shall be performed by a competent and qualified personnel and ensure adequate protection to the livestock, wildlife, general public, buildings, telephone, telegraph, power lines, underground structures and any other property in the proximity of the blasting; (e) to ensure that- (i) in grading the site, every effort shall be made in order to minimize damage to the land, and to prevent abnormal drainage and erosive conditions; (ii) the land is to be restored to as nearly original condition as is practical; (f) to observe- (i) environmental, health and safety standards as required by the applicable laws; (ii) health and safety of all the personnel and equipment and ensure use of 2 Petroleum (Puma Energy Tanzania Limited-Natural Gas Receiving Station) (Construction Approval) GN. Personal Protective Equipment all the time including head hat, safety glasses, safety boots, use of fire extinguisher; and (g) to ensure all existing utilities whether regulated by the Authority or not are protected from damage and formally communicate with operators of such utilities to request their presence on-site during project execution.
