§ 1These Regulations may be cited as the WeightsCommencement

This section gives the title of the Regulations, says they are to be read with the 2019 principal Regulations, and says they start on 1 July 2025.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Weights and Measures (General) (Amendment) Regulations, 2025 and shall be read as one with the Weights and Measures (General) Regulations, 2019 hereinafter referred to as the “principal Regulations” and shall come into operation on 1st July, 2025.
§ 2The principal Regulations are amended in theSubstitution

The amendment sets or updates fees in the Fifth Schedule for metrological supervision, examination of fixed storage tanks, and taximeter verification.

2. The principal Regulations are amended in the Fifth Schedule- (a) by deleting item 3(B) and substituting for it the following: fee “(B) metrological supervision to terminals for monitoring measurements inspecting measuring system or and instruments or discharging of bulk oil or fuel from the ship tanker to final receiving tank farms is 0.15 Tanzania shillings per litre.”; offloading during (b) in item 18, by adding immediately after paragraph (e) the following: “(f) fees for examination of fixed storage tanks …150,000/= charged once.”; (c) by adding immediately after item 18 the following: 1 The Weights and Measures (General) (Amendment) GN. NO.352G (Contd.) “19. Verification fees for taximeter after every twelve months …………10,000/=”; Amendment of Eighth Schedule
§ 3The principal Regulations are amended in theSubstitution

The fee for testing and inspection certification of imported goods is 0.2 of F.O.B. for imported prepacked goods or Tanzania shillings 50,000, whichever is greater, subject to a maximum of Tanzania shillings 2,000,000.

3. The principal Regulations are amended in the Eighth Schedule by deleting item 3 and substituting for it the following: “3. Fees for testing and inspection, certification of imported goods: 0.2 of F.O.B of imported prepacked goods or Tanzania 50,000/=, shillings whichever is greater, provided that the fee shall not exceed Tanzania shillings 2,000,000/=”.
