Supplement No. 30 24th July, 2020 SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION to the Gazette of the United Republic of Tanzania No.30 Vol. 101 dated 24th July, 2020 Printed by the Government Printer, Dodoma by Order of Government GOVERNMENT NOTICE NO 578 published on 24/7/2020 THE PUBLIC HOLIDAYS ACT, (CAP. 35) ____________ PROCLAMATION ____________ (Made under section 3) THE PUBLIC HOLIDAYS (DECLARATION OF ELECTION DAY AS A PUBLIC HOLIDAY) PROCLAMATION, 2020 WHEREAS section 3 of the Public Holidays Act, Cap. 35 vests in the President the powers to declare any day to be a public holiday in addition to the days set out in the Schedule to the Act or substitute any of them and thereupon such day be a public holiday as if it were mentioned in that Schedule; AND WHEREAS for purposes of facilitating all eligible persons to exercise their right to vote, the President is minded to declare the Election Day to be a public holiday; AND WHEREAS the 28th day of October, 2020, Wednesday, which is a working day, has been declared the Election Day for the 2020 General Elections by the National Electoral Commission; NOW THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers vested in the President by section 3 of the Public Holidays Act, Cap. 35, I, JOHN POMBE JOSEPH MAGUFULI, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, do hereby proclaim and declare the 28th day of October, 2020 to be a public holiday.
