The Meat Industry (Import and Export of Livestock, Meat and Meat Products) (Amendment) Regulations, 2021

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Meat Industry (Import and Export of Livestock, Meat and Meat Products)(Amendment) Regulations, 2021 and shall be read as one with the Meat Industry (Import and Export of Livestock, Meat and Meat Products) Regulations, 2014 herein after referred to as the “principal Regulations”. 2. The principal Regulations are amended by deleting regulation 16 and substituting for it the following: who

NO. 185 (Contd.) may compound any offence under these Regulations by requiring such person to pay a sum of money not exceeding one half of the amount of fine to which such person would have otherwise been liable to pay if he had been convicted of such offence by filling up the form as prescribed in Third Schedule to these Regulations. (2) A person whose offence is compounded shall, within three days from the date of being issued with compounding form, have the right to- (a) submit his defence; or (b) admit an offence and mitigate against a penalty. (3) The Registrar shall, upon considering- (a) the defence or mitigation of a person whose offence is compounded; (b) the report of the Inspector if any, order payment of such sum of money as provided under the Act or these Regulations having consideration to the mitigation factors.
