Statute overview

About this statute

These regulations may be cited as the Foreign Exchange Regulations, 2022, and the section then begins interpretation. This section defines terms used in the Regulations. This section allows people to hold, buy, sell, and open foreign currency accounts in Tanzania, but it also limits certain overseas account activity and sets conditions for some foreign exchange transactions. A person crossing into or out of the United Republic with more than USD 10,000 or its equivalent must declare it to Customs at arrival or departure. A person who is not authorized under the Act may not deal in gold unless the Governor gives permission.
