About this statute

This section gives the Act its short title: the Explosives Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act and gives the Minister power to classify a substance as either an explosive or ammunition by Gazette order in a dual-use case. A person must not deal with explosive substances unless the substance has been approved by the Commissioner for use in Mainland Tanzania. The Minister may appoint any public officer as an inspector of explosives for the Act or any specified sections of it. The Commissioner may delegate Act-based powers to an appointed inspector, and a person must not deal in explosives except as allowed by the Act.
