Statute overview
About this statute
An Appeals Committee must be made up of specific members, with a different membership list for regional and district committees. Appointed members normally serve for the period in their appointment, or three years if no period is stated, and may be reappointed. They may resign in writing. The Regional Development Committee and District Council may fill casual vacancies and replace members. An Appeals Committee must meet when necessary or expedient, and its meetings are normally convened by the Chairman or, if directed by the Chairman, by the Secretary. At Appeals Committee meetings, the Secretary and at least three other members make a quorum. Majority decisions count as the Committee’s decision, each member has one vote, and the chair gets a casting vote if votes are tied. The Secretary must record all business from an Appeals Committee meeting in the committee’s minute book, and the meeting minutes must be read, confirmed or amended and confirmed, and signed by the Chairman on the same or next meeting.
