Statute overview

About this statute

This provision defines “appointing authority” and says “member” includes the Chairman. The Board must include the listed types of members, and the Minister must ensure gender balance when making those appointments. Board acts or proceedings are not invalid just because the board was incomplete, a member was improperly appointed, or a member was disqualified from acting. Board members serve for the appointment period, or three years if no period is specified, and may resign in writing to the appointing authority. If a board member misses three consecutive meetings without reasonable excuse, the Board must tell the appointing authority, and that authority may end the appointment and replace the member.
