About this statute

The Minister must make sure women are at least one third of Council members when appointing members, and the Council must be made up of the listed categories of members. A member normally serves for three years, may resign by written notice to the appointing authority, and may be re-appointed. If a non-Chairman member cannot attend Council meetings for certain reasons, the appointing authority may appoint a temporary replacement. The Council must elect one of its members to be the Vice-Chairman. The Chairman must preside at Council meetings; if absent, the Vice-Chairman must preside; if both are absent, the members present may elect a temporary chairman who must preside.
