Statute overview

About this statute

This section says the Act may be cited as the Films and Stage Plays Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act for films, stage plays, permits, licences, the Board, and related concepts. A person must not make, help make, or take part in making a film unless it is covered by a film permit from the Minister; amateur films for private showing to family and friends do not need a permit. Film permit applications must be made in writing to the Minister and include required film details, unless the Minister accepts other information instead. The Minister can grant or refuse a film permit and may attach conditions, require a bond, and require a public officer to be present. If filming is stopped, the officer must notify the Minister, who may allow filming to resume or refuse resumption.
