Statute overview

About this statute

This section gives the Act its short title and lets the Minister suspend the operation of a provision of the Act. The Minister may suspend the operation of all or part of this Act, for Mainland Tanzania or any area of it, by Gazette order if he considers it expedient or desirable. This section defines terms used in the Act and limits appointing authorities from exercising functions over licensing authorities other than the one they appoint. This section sets up central and regional transport licensing authorities, sets how they are appointed, and gives rules for membership, quorum, staffing, and procedure. The Minister must appoint a public officer to serve as the Secretary of the Authority.
